News Stories Board for Change - Latest Updates It's been a busy few weeks for the members of our student-led Board for Change. Work has included bike shed improvements, a mountain biking trip to Dalby Forest and peer-to-peer support for students accessing exercise opportunities. Board for Change Update: Active Travel Ambassadors oversee bike shelter improvements After consulting students across the school, our ATA's found that a number of their peers were opting out of travelling to school on a bike or a scooter due to lack of suitable parking space for scooters and worries over bike security.- Board for Change Update: Active Humber Ambassadors support girls accessing exercise
The Active Humber ambassadors recently met with the new cohort of girls attending this year’s Girls’ Carousel of physical activity. Board for Change Update: School Ambassadors enjoy a day at Dalby Forest. Twelve of our Board for Change members recently enjoyed a day of mountain biking in Dalby Forest. 100% attendance celebrated Students at Withernsea High School are continuing to benefit from a number of incentives designed to recognise and reward strong attendance. ‘We will run this together’ – staff and students take on 10k challenges for cancer support Taking inspiration from a friend and colleague who continues to benefit from the support of a prominent cancer care charity, a number of staff are gearing up to run next month’s Hull 10k in a show of solidarity for all those who are dealing with cancer. Young entrepreneurs impress with innovative idea A team of budding young entrepreneurs have secured a place in the final of a national competition after impressing judges with their idea for a socially inclusive shopping centre during a careers and enterprise contest. Snack Shack open for business! As part of a continuing process to enhance the break and lunchtime experience at Withernsea High School, this term has seen the launch of the brand new ‘Snack Shack’ – an additional servery to help deliver more choice and flexibility for students. Valuable connections between education and industry cemented through teambuilding workshops A collaboration between a leading engineering training provider and a multinational company, home to some of the best-known hygiene, health and nutrition brands, is supporting young people with the development of essential life and workplace skills. Achievements - April 2024 The board currently features 14 Sports Ambassadors, 8 Youth Health Champions, 2 Careers Ambassadors, 12 Active Travel Ambassadors, 5 School Council Ambassadors and 2 Active Humber Ambassadors.
