The board currently features 14 Sports Ambassadors, 8 Youth Health Champions, 2 Careers Ambassadors, 12 Active Travel Ambassadors, 5 School Council Ambassadors and 2 Active Humber Ambassadors. Click here to see what they've done so far...

As of April 2024, our Board for Change members have achieved a lot! Including... 

Sport Ambassadors: 

• Assisted over 15 School Sports Partnership events

• Led extra-curricular clubs (dance and girl’s football)

• Assisted with the planning and building of the new school gym

• Assisted with the planning and the launch of the media wall

• Attended PACE workshops/meetings in the community.

Youth Health Champions: 

• Playground leading at Withernsea Primary School 

• Mentoring Year 7 Tutorials 

• Well-being Wednesdays (drop-in service in the careers base for Year 7)

• Wellness walks 

• Organisation of rewards events. 

Active Travel Ambassadors: 

• Influenced an increase in Active Travel (particularly cycling) to school

• Received £500 from Modeshift and East Riding Road Safety for the delivery of an outstanding Active Travel Day pitch at County Hall, Beverley.

• Planned and executed a successful Active Travel Day

In addition, the Active Travel Ambassadors have been linked to: 

  • Smoothie Bike events
    - Helmet/bike lock/bike light handouts
    - Bike library
    - Bike builds
    - Bike club (Dalby Forest trip)
    - Road safety assemblies
    - A cycling event during enrichment week

Careers Ambassadors: 

• Represented the school in Hull and East Yorkshire through the 'Student Voice' programme - helping to shape careers guidance in schools throughout the region

• Surveyed over 200 parents as part of their research to find out about views on apprenticeships vs degrees  and presented their findings 

• Met with Local MP Graham Stuart to discuss Careers provision within school

• Represented the school at the Year 5 and 6 Open Evening and talked about careers provision.

Active Humber Ambassadors 

• First ever high school ambassadors for Active Humber

• Attended WHS girls carousal

• Grown in confidence

• Role models and advocates for having healthy active lifestyles. 

School Council Ambassadors 

• Attended formal board meetings in school

• Sent survey out to students and staff to find out what themes they should focus on

• Started to gather student voice on various school issues.
