It was an exciting game with lots of attacking opportunities and attempts on goal. Cottingham had some very physical players, who could have dominated the game, but huge credit to our team who kept them under control and did not allow them to play the football they wanted. 

 Withernsea took an early lead with a well-taken finish from Darcey Wilson. A perfectly placed ball allowed Darcey to use her pace and beat the defending player to the ball - before calmly finishing passed the advancing keeper. Shortly afterwards we unfortunately conceded an own goal, with Lily Barker scoring a thumping header.... in her own net! Not to be shaken, she responded to this extremely well and used the drive to attack with determination and soon repaid the favour - this time at the right end! A good corner taken by Darcey was met by Lily who fired past the Cottingham High School keeper.

 The game continued to have lots of end-to-end action. Lucie McKee in goal played a blinder and commanded her area with great confidence, taking the ball from the striker’s feet on numerous occasions. Millie Campbell was solid at the back and dominated everything that came through, partnering well with Kaitlin Jowett and Millie Courtney-Wilson. 

 The goals continued close until the final whistle, with the final score finishing 5-3 to WHS. This now sees the girls in the Humberside Cup final! Let's see if they can get some silverware.
