The event took the form of a question and answer session, sparking conversations covering a wide range of topics including football, science, life after death, the purpose of life, our responsibility to the next generation and how worldviews influence our sense of self. 

The thought-provoking session equipped students with a deeper understanding of different world views, opening their eyes to other perspectives. Year 9 student, Luke Walker, said: “I have never done anything like this before. It was interesting to see how respectful everyone was of each other’s beliefs and viewpoints, even when they didn't agree. You can disagree without being disrespectful.”

Andrea Monaghan, Head of Personal Development and Teacher of Religious Studies, said: "I was delighted to be able to offer students this opportunity. Our aims at this school are to broaden students’ horizons and to enable them to thrive in a changing world, and forums for discussion like this are so valuable in helping us to achieve those aims. Religious Studies can seem like a dry, academic topic at times - but meeting people who live out the different worldviews that we learn about in class really brings learning to life."

The Living Faith event took place during Inter Faith Week – a national week of focus which aims to highlight the good relationships and working partnerships between people of different faiths and beliefs that exist across the UK. It aims to strengthen good inter faith relations at all levels while increasing awareness of the different and distinct faith communities in the UK – celebrating and building on the contribution which their members make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society, whilst also increasing understanding between people of religious and non-religious beliefs.
